You won’t have to worry about any out-of-pocket expenses for your treatment since Pursuit Physiotherapy can do direct billing to WorkSafeBC.
What to do if you have been injured at work
If you sustain an injury at work, it’s important to submit a claim through your employer and the Workers Compensation Board within 5 days of the injury. WorkSafeBC will cover the cost of your initial assessment and decide whether you’re eligible for additional treatment.
Report your injury to your employer and to Worksafe BC calling Teleclaim @ 1.888.WORKERS (1.888.967.5377) as soon as possible.
As soon as you are injured on the job notify your employer and ensure your employer also submits their injury report to WorkSafeBC.
Seek medical attention for your injury as soon as possible. Be sure to tell your doctor that your injury is work-related.
Visit a healthcare professional such as your family doctor, walk-in clinic, or hospital for an evaluation. Be sure to let them know your injury is work-related. This must be done in order to verify your claim

When a Referral is Required
If your injuries are not severe enough to require hospital admission, you’ll need an assessment and referral from your family doctor or a walk-in clinic, including a suspected diagnosis, before starting physiotherapy.

What You’ll Need for Your INITIAL Appointment
To get started with Worksafe BC rehabilitation services, please bring the following:
WorkSafeBC Claim number provided to you by WSBC
Your personal health number (You can find this on your care card number from your BC services card or your driver’s license)
Date of injury
Direct name and contact information for your employer
** You do not need prior approval from WorkSafeBC to begin physiotherapy. If your claim is approved, WorkSafeBC will cover the cost of your initial assessment and treatment sessions.
How to Report your injury to Worksafe BC
There are different ways you can report your injury to WorkSafe BC; you can choose any of the following methods:

The fastest and easiest way to report an injury is to call WorkSafe BC. Their representative will take your information over the phone and will go through the process about your recovery and return to work. WorkSafe BC Teleclaim is available Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Rehabilitation with WorkSafe BC and Pursuit Physiotherapy
Initial Assessment
During your first visit, our experienced physiotherapists will conduct a comprehensive assessment, which includes:
Reviewing your medical history and details of the workplace injury.
Assessing your mobility, strength, and areas of pain or dysfunction.
Developing a personalized treatment plan to support your recovery.
Treatment Plan and Follow ups
WorkSafeBC generally covers up to 15 physiotherapy treatments within a 6 week treatment block. Your physiotherapist will communicate your progress with WorkSafeBC as needed.
If additional treatments are required, our team will submit an extension request to WorkSafeBC on your behalf to ensure you continue receiving care until you’re fully recovered.
It’s essential to attend all scheduled physiotherapy sessions to maximize your recovery and maintain WorkSafeBC coverage.
Return to work
Your physiotherapist will work closely with you and your employer to ensure a safe return to work. This may involve:
Gradual return-to-work programs.
Modified duties or adjustments to your workload.
Continued exercises to strengthen and maintain function.
If you experience any setbacks, let both your physiotherapist and WorkSafeBC know right away to reassess your treatment plan.
